7 Must-Haves List For Upgrading Your Warm Weather Wardrobe
It’s that time of year again. The weather is getting warmer and we all start looking through our closest pulling out the summer clothes we’ve been dying to wear through all the long cooler months. However, if you are anything like me, you’ll find yourself digging through piles of clothes that you used to love but now just seem over worn. You are no longer enamored with the summer fashion trends you once loved so dearly.
So why does any sensible person do in this situation? We go shopping! We grab our friend’s pile into the car and head to the mall. Entering full of excitement, just knowing that through those doors are the perfect summer look that will make you the envy every girl you pass, and make every guy take a second look. The girl squad walks in ready to crawl through racks of clothing, sift through piles of shoes and sort through displays of accessories and when that perfect look has been found we all go celebrate with some well-deserved drinks and a night of fun.
Except this is never how those trips end up going. Inevitably after hours of looking, tense moments in the dressing room trying to decide if you really like that shade of yellow, or if the hemline is too short, or too long we stumble out into the midafternoon sunlight only to be disappointed with the lackluster selections of “staple” pieces we purchased.
I’ve been there. It’s not a fun experience. Of course, there are some of those days where you hit the mall and it all just seems to go perfectly. You walk strutting your stuff feeling like a goddess. Well, I’m here to offer some help, I am here to offer you a list of suggestions, so you know exactly what summer fashion trends to look for the perfect additions to upgrade your summer wardrobe!
Summer Fashion Trends You Need Right Now
Off The Shoulder Tops
It doesn’t matter if your style is more business casual, boho chic, or something in between, off the shoulder tops are where it’s at for that perfect summer evening. And the perfect day at the beach! Two of my favorites are this gorgeous red one from Francesca’s, perfect to be dressed up for a night out, or casually worn for a day running errands with boyfriend jeans and sneakers. I also love this soft flowy one from American Eagle, perfect to throw on for those lazy afternoons on the beach, or soaking up the sun at brunch.
At some point in our lives, most us have dreamed about running off and being an artist or writer. Or something that involves sitting in some cute little European house wearing a painters shirt and a perfectly oversized pair of cuffed jeans. Well, boyfriend jeans are something no closest should go without. This faded, distressed pair is from Charlotte Russe, but my favorite place to get them is from asos.com.
Even if you are a shorty like me, we all love having that long beautiful maxi dress in our closet that makes us feel like a princess. It’s true what they say, black is slimming. By using that theory combined with the long slim line of this maxi dress, also from asos.com, you can be sure that all eyes will be on you, whether you are walking around town, going out to dinner, or hitting the beach with your girls.
These past few summers have been the year of the romper! And it’s no surprise why, it feels like wearing your pajamas outside, only you look put together and super cute. This simple cotton one from old navy has served me well and has become go-to for those days when I want to throw something on over my swimsuit. For a dressy occasion, this maroon one that flows gently away from the body from Francesca’s is perfect. Paired with cute wedges and some statement jewelry, say hello to one slamming hotty.
The Little White Dress
Maybe it’s just me but there is something so perfect about a little white dress in the summer. Daytime, nighttime, somewhere in between time, it doesn’t matter the occasion. A little white dress is all you need in your summer wardrobe. Risky? Yes, especially if you are prone to coffee spilling accidents like me. But also of so very effortless and stunning. Pair it with sandals and a floppy hat for a day on the sand or heels and a nice clutch for the evening. Plus no matter how fair-skinned you might be, a white dress shows off even the slightest tan.
Loose Tank Tops
There was a time when the really slim cut tighter tank top was definitely a thing. Now everyone needs a few loose comfortable tank tops to wear. Pair it with a sports bra to run around town. Throw it over a swimsuit, or grab an adorable bralette and let some lace show. No matter which way you wear it. It is the easiest day to day thing for summer. Plus, its way to hot to wear anything that sticks close to your body.
Lace Bralette or Five!
I used to feel really uncomfortable wearing just a bralette under loose t-shirts or tank tops or in some clothes that were slightly lower cut. Well, that has definitely changed, much like my opposition to wearing leggings in public, I now wear bralettes under everything! And they are definitely a staple for the summer. I love this tank from Free People, I wear it backward with a bralette or my swimsuit and no one can tell! It’s the perfect little accent to any basic look. Its become one of my favorite summer fashion trends!
Everyone loves a great pair of denim shorts in the summer, versatile they go with everything. By why not switch it up with something so much more comfortable with some cotton ones, like these from Kohls that are stretchy, comfortable and come in so many cute patterns. Stand out from the crowd of daisy dukes with a change of pace and a pop of color. Perfect for giving a little flair to any beach goers look.
