Wow, I can’t believe we are already heading into the last week of January. I promised myself 2018 was going to be a year of truly going after what I want in life and I think the year started out a little off track to be honest. I try to be real with you guys and this month for some reason I was just feeling particularly overwhelmed and down on myself. Probably just new years madness, and I’ve never really been the kind of person who thrives in quarter one, I am a quarter two and three type of person for sure, so hopefully things will start to pick up for me in the ensuing months as we head deeper into the year.
However, me being a Q2-Q3 thriver isn’t what we are here to talk about, so while I am trying to get things together for the remainder of the winter and heading into spring, I am living in casual petite winter outfits that are easy to throw on, and even easier for me to wear running around doing a million different things during the day. I don’t know about you guys but the day can easily go from rushing off to work at 6 am to after work drinks, to a movie night with my boyfriend, to a photoshoot for the blog all in space of a blink of an eye. I need to be ready and comfortable no matter what a day throws my way, and with the way, most of us young women are almost always on the move, it explains why I always seem to have half my wardrobe floating around my car. A great causal petite winter outfit makes it easy to be the belle of the event no matter what your plans are.
Petite Winter Outfit Outerwear- Leather Jacket
I’ve learned that due to that fact that I never seem to be able to decide whether or not I am hot or cold or somewhere in between having a variety of layers is must in my winter outfits. Its no secret that I have an obsession with leather jackets and by obsession, I mean have to remind myself that I don’t need to buy every single pretty one I see. I have been impressed with how this one has held up and while the faux leather isn’t the softest, for $30 from Target it has held up for 3-4 years now and the fit is perfect for layering over a sweater with a scarf for a winter day. I love that this jacket hits right at my hips giving it a flattering shape, and while the sleeves are a bit long, they aren’t as bad as some that I’ve tried.
Add A Sweater For Good Measure
- Grayson Threads Women’s Grateful Sweatshirt: Size Extra Small
This sweater is so cozy and soft. While not the thickest, its perfect for a base layer for an adorable winter look. The juniors section at Target is great for petite women and as they continue to bring in more brands I am finding more and more things I really love. Plus, who doesn’t love a good graphic sweater? With the scarf over it, I can get away with wearing this with some nice dark wash jeans and booties to the office as my work has a more casual dress code making it ideal for shedding my leather jacket when I am inside and don’t need the extra layer or the restrictive feel of long jacket sleeves. This sweater comes in different colors with different graphics and I am definitely thinking of adding some more to my collection because it fits so well. If you want a more oversized fit, size up but the extra small for me fits just right.
Jeans- My Favorite Dark Wash Levi’s
- Levis 710 Skinny Jeans: Size 27
I will never have enough good things to say about my Levi’s skinny jeans. Obsessed, in love, want to create a shrine to them and whatever genius who created them, would all be putting it lightly. That might seem to be an exaggeration but I hate, I mean absolutely hate shopping for jeans. I love jeans themselves because I wear them almost every day but I can stand shopping for them, it’s too frustrating. I can’t be the only one who feels this way, if they fit in one area, they are to tight or to lose in another. So when I find a pair that I love I tend to keep buying them in different washes. Then comes the terrible moment when the fit or size or brand gets discontinued. Good news is that Levi’s aren’t going anywhere, and the 710’s come in different lengths and waist sizes as well as over 10 colors and washes.
Being Basic With UGGS
- Bearpaw Margery Booties: Size 5
Okay, they aren’t real uggs but they are almost exactly the same thing, and while I always said I was never going to own a pair of boots like this, I really love them. If I am wearing this look to work I will pair it with some other booties that are more appropriate but I like keeping my Bearpaw boots in my car as something more comfortable to change into after a day working in heels or booties that might not feel as nice on my feet. Like wearing slippers out of the house, they are great when I am taking this outfit from work to a movie night or even just the drive home feel like my feet are in a cloud. Perfect for just pulling on when you don’t want to think about it, as much shit as I gave myself for picking these up on Black Friday but it took me about 60 seconds of trying them on to decide I wanted them and that they weren’t going to make it to their intended recipent as gift. Don’t worry, I bought her another pair but I kept these ones for myself.
A Scarf Brings Color To Winter
Whatever your color preferences are, a scarf full of bright colors can really add a little something to an outfit made of winter neutrals. I love dark blues in the winter as they are still a great seasonal color but are definitely still bright and fun. Learning how to wear a scarf helped up my fashion game as they are so versatile from lightweight fabrics in summer to thicker ones in winter. Just be careful the scarf doesn’t completely swallow your face, have definitely tried to wear some that just made me look like a turtle poking out of its shell, which let’s be real is not a cute look. Since I’ve found my love for scarves I’ve been slowly adding to my collection and rocking them with different looks, and being cozier in the process cause nothing screams cozy like a nice warm scarf.
Adding layers, and changing elements quickly lets me rock an outfit from event to event throughout a crazy day and that’s really what it’s all about. I am sure we have all had that moment where you’ve had to rush home and change or wish you could because you were properly dressed for plans you made. It’s just the worst especially at the end of a long day. So creating a petite winter outfit like this, changing your shoes or throwing on a leather jacket to add some structure, makes it easy never feel like the odd one out.
