On a day to day basis, I don’t wear a ton of makeup, at least I don’t think so. Some people might disagree but I’ve got my routine down to a science. The part is can get my 10 minute everyday makeup routine done and I can be out the door.
But, I am also the type of person who even though I prefer to keep my day to day makeup simple, feels very odd leaving the house bare-faced. I’m not sure why but it makes me feel very uncomfortable.
For me, my casual everyday makeup is all about keeping it simple and using products that work hard so I don’t have to. Even the smallest amount of makeup makes me feel and look so much more put together and awake. I’ve been using the same everyday products for a long time, which is funny considering how much I love finding and testing new makeup.
My 10 minute everyday makeup routine starts with a primer for my skin. I know this sounds weird but the Nivea Men’s Post Shave Balm is my all time favorite everyday primer. It really helps my makeup stay in place, its made for sensitive skin so it doesn’t irritate, and its about a 100 times cheaper than any makeup primer you can buy!
Next is my foundation. For every day, I don’t want a super heavy product that I am going to have to worry is going to crease or wear off extremely poorly throughout the day. About a year or so ago I found the Neutrogena Hydro Boot Hydrating Tint, and its become my perfect everyday foundation. It leaves my skin look plump, hydrated and evens out my complexion without looking heavy.
There isn’t enough coffee in the world to get rid of my dark circles. And that’s why I am so damn picky about my concealers. I don’t want to add another layer of makeup to my face if its just going to be kind of pointless. The one I use for my everyday makeup routine is Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. It provides great coverage, hiding most if not all of my dark circles depending on the day, and it doesn’t crease or get cakey. What more could you want?
With the Neutrogena Foundation, I do feel like I need to set it with a powder because if not I don’t think it will last all day at least not on me! But I have a probably with a lot of translucent powders causing really bad white cast on my skin. The NYX HD Studio Finishing Powder is so beautiful and makes my skin look like velvet. Going with a light hand on a big fluffy brush and it sets all my makeup in place so flawlessly.
As a natural blonde, I really wish someone had told me earlier that I still needed to fill in my brows. There are some early pictures of me that are just really not cute! But since I have learned that this is a step that helps me look far more pulled together and less like an alien, I’ve been using The Browgal by Tonya Crooks and a Mac Eyebrow pencil. I love the Browgal because it can be used as either a powder or pomade and the trio comes with three shades that makes it easy to find the perfect color and undertone. And the Mac eyebrow pencil is so easy to use to really define my brows.
And of course, I can’t forget my mascara. I don’t typical where eyeshadow or eyeliner on a day to day basis but I can’t go without my mascara. My two favorites both come from L’Oreal cause because the just kill it at the mascara game. I love the Voluminous Carbon Black and The Lash Paradise. I love how deep and rich the Carbon Black one is and Lash Paradise gives me that great volume and fluffiness that my natural lashes lack.
If I am feeling a little washed out I will use my Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer or my Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso to add some color to my fair skin. It’s easy for me to look very washed out with my pale hair and skin so adding some warmth or a flush rosiness to my cheeks is really the perfect finishing touch to my everyday makeup routine.
And I don’t really wear lipstick throughout the day as I don’t want to have to be touching it up or worried about it cracking, but I love a little bit of color and sheen to my lips. My Vaseline Rosy Lips balm is a must-have. I have several of them that I carry in my purse and around the house because they keep my lips nice and soft while also giving them just a touch of color and sheen.
And thats it. I know it might seem like a lot of my 10 minute everyday makeup routine but it really only takes about 10 minutes and then I am done! What are some of your favorite, must-have everyday products? Is there something you can’t live without that I am missing from this list that you think I will fall in love with? Leave it in the comments below so I can try it!
I hope you all have a great Monday!
