Orange Wrap Sweater + Riding Boots: A Casual Winter Outfit For Petite Women
It might not get snowy, cold here in San Diego but we definitely get sweater weather. Being able to cozy up in a soft, warm sweater is one of my favorite parts about this time of year, and I am so glad that I still have the chance to even though I live near the beach. Usually, I am classic colors kinda girl. I stick to creams and greys with pops of navy and maroon this time of year but I promised myself I would step out of my comfort zone and try some new colors, that’s actually why I love this casual winter outfit for petite women like me.
This outfit makes me feel far more put together than I actually am which is an awesome perk for me because let’s be honest, I hate leaving my house a second sooner than I have to. Pieces like this with a little bit of pop and style to them make it so easy for me to just throw it together with a couple of basics like dark wash jeans and some riding boots, and have a great look to rock for a day running errands, meeting up with friends or hanging out with my boyfriend.
This knit surplice sweater is one of my favorite purchases of this year. The way it drapes on the body is so cute, and if you want a large more oversized appearance, wear a tank or bandeau underneath and order a size up. I love the color of it and the knit material is actually pretty nice and thick which makes it perfect for wearing on its own or layering depending on where you live. This would look dynamite under a leather jacket with some cute booties for a night out on the town.
These Levi 710 skinny jeans are a seriously holy grail for me. I don’t know about you but as a petite woman finding jeans is like top 5 of my least favorite shopping experiences. Not only do these fit me better than almost any pair of jeans I’ve had, but they aren’t insanely long on me. If you don’t mind a little bit of bunch at the bottom of your skinny jeans then you will love these. Not only do they come in all kinds of washes for any look but you can also buy them in fun colors such a maroon, navy, green and yellow.
Classic riding boots are a staple in my wardrobe. From rocking them in the summer with dresses to wearing them jeans and fuzzy socks in the winter. These are some of the best I have ever found. The quality is amazing and I love how simple the design is. The little bit of buckle detailing is the perfect amount of a little something and after treating these with a waterproofing spray I’ve had no problems with the leather being damaged or anything like that. These go all the way down to a size 5 and the shaft of the boot isn’t too tall. Its hits right at or below where the knee bends which is the perfect spot for a riding boot. A must have for any casual winter outfit for petite women.
A gorgeous satchel makes an outfit. And yes, I have no problems mixing my neutrals and for this outfit, I really love how they all work together in this look. This tan satchel was a Marshalls steal I found when I broke the strap on another bag. I was sad to see her go but it meant I got to add this beauty to my collection so that’s a win. This bag is the perfect sizing for throwing everything into for work or running around on the weekends. I love that it’s not huge but that it also makes a statement and has a few inner pockets to help keep everything organized and neat so things don’t disappear into the vastness like seems to happen with every bag I own.
Part of my mission to play with color is learning how to mix my colors a little bit better. Adding this bright pop of blue in a chunky statement necklace for some reason just works for me in this look. I mean maybe its because its Denver Broncos colors, or that I just love treating dark blue as a neutral but that one little pop of unexpected color added something fun to this outfit. I love the shorter length of this necklace to that lets the neckline of the sweater still make a statement as that really helps the torso look longer and as a petite lady we all want that!
This look for me is just the perfect casual winter outfit for petite women, its pulled together and yet it looks comfortable and ready for anything. This outfit is so easy to throw together without a second thought, helping you look pulled together and ready for anything without spending a ton of time digging through your closet to find the perfect thing.
I’ve tried to be more adventurous with my wardrobe this year but in the end, my base items remain the same. I’ve enjoyed mixing in warm colors like this orange sweater and statement pieces like this blue necklace to really have some fun with things.
