Hey, everyone! I’m so sorry a new post is going up so late! I had a crazy weekend between going to a celebrity golf tournament and some other big changes that I’ve been working I hope to share with you guys soon. I finally am getting a chance to sit down a write a new post! Keep reading to see how I spend a day in Los Angeles without blowing the budget.
Late last week my boyfriend and I decided to take a day trip up to LA on his day off work. We wanted to have a bit of an adventure together. I’ve only been to LA one other time so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to do some exploring, and also I wanted to see if I could do the city of angels in 24 hours.
Things To Do: Los Angeles Without Blowing The Budget
When you have less than a day to see a place like Los Angeles, it’s important to start out with a checklist of absolute must-sees.
Start by looking into a tour of one of the movie and tv production lots. Or if planning ahead request to get tickets to be an audience member on a show. We got to be in the audience for a taping of Conan which was an absolute blast! Being an audience member is free and so much fun. There are websites like
There are websites like LA Tourist or TV Tickets that allow you to request tickets. Once you request them they send you another email that you’ve been approved or taken off the waitlist. At that point, you are good to go. Be prepared to show up early to get checked in. Some studios like Warner Bro’s will check you in and don’t require you to hang around once you have. You can go sight see more. For studio tours, the tickets are sold through their websites such as Paramount, Warners Brothers, Sony and more. Tickets are free or inexpensive, a great thing to do in Los Angeles without blowing the budget.
I highly suggest seeing Warner Brothers. Not only is it one of the biggest productions lots but some of the best shows ever came out of its studios including Friends. Touring its campus also puts you within driving distance of another must see, Hollywood Boulevard. You can’t see LA without seeing the legendary walk of fame! Drive into Hollywood and park at the Hollywood & Highland. Parking is only $2 an hour and many of the attractions and stores nearby validate.
Indulge in some shopping if you chose but the real attractions here are the TLC Chinese Theater where some of the biggest films premier. Famous actors have left handprints and footprints on its courtyard stones. Next door is the awesome Madame Tussauds. You can wander through wax recreations of some of your favorite entertainers, actors, superheroes, and athletes. Tickets are $30 if you buy them at the door or if you go after 4 pm and buy your tickets online you can get in for $15. It only takes about an hour or so to get through the whole thing and is definitely worth it.
After wandering Hollywood Blvd looking for your favorite celebrities stars drive and or hike your way for an up close and personal snap of you and the Hollywood sign! Though it is illegal to get too close there are plenty of great vantage points from which to snap a great photo. While there hop on over to the Griffith Observatory where you can look through telescopes, see live planetary shows and get sweeping views of the entire city of LA all for free.
If you head out of Hollywood about 30 mins you’ll find Venice and Santa Monica Beach. The end of historic Route 66 Santa Monic Pier is one that has long been seen in TV and movies. It’s a beautiful little walk to the end of the pier. It offers great views of the ocean and looks back on the city. Stroll down the Venice beach boardwalk to check out all the little shops and restaurants that pop up along the stretch while taking in the ocean air and eclectic crowd.
Seeing massive cities can be just as much fun without blowing the budget. Its easy if you know where to go and how to manage time. There is so much to see and do. There is sure to be something for everyone! I hope this helps you plan your next adventure to Los Angeles without blowing the budget.
