.Wow, I’m so sorry for the delay in getting a new post up and running! I was all ready to get this post up on Thursday. But then out of nowhere, the internet in my apartment went out. We have been running around doing so many other things. We finally got a chance to get it fixed today! But here we are finally. On Tuesday night my best friend from growing up decided to come visit me here in sunny San Diego for a day trip.
So I decided I would share the highlights we hit. The basics of any great quick trip in SoCal, food, friends, and frolicking on the beach. I picked her up from the airport and we spent the rest of the night chatting, watching our favorite movie, Perks Of Being A Wallflower and drinking milkshakes. For those of you who haven’t seen the movie, the milkshake thing might seem odd. Well, during one scene all the kids are sitting in a basement during a party, the start smoking some pot and get the munchies. The main character Charlie has never been high before, he decides he wants a milkshake. Because of this, now every time we watch the movie, we crave milkshakes.
We usually make them with our favorite mint chip ice cream. Because I just moved and don’t have a blender so we settled for picking some up from the local Jack-In-The-Box.
Wednesday we had to indulge in another tradition, brunch at Snooze. A delightful chain of places started in my very own Denver, Colorado. We’ve been doing brunch at this hip little spot since we were young kids in high school. So now, whenever life is so kind as to bring the two of us back together, we must indulge in the tasty nostalgia of different times. Times when we lived two blocks away from each other, could run over to each other’s houses at any hour and always had someone to escape on an adventure with. After a lot of coffee some delicious corn beef hash and benedicts, we departed for a day of cruising through little boutiques in Encinitas to find cute decorations for my new place.
The outing was a total bust! I found one cute little sign to hang in my kitchen, we consumed, even more, coffee from the most Instagram-able cafe in the world Better Buzz, where life is better buzzed, but some beach therapy was much needed. You can’t have a day trip to San Diego, without it!
Torrey Pines State Beach Park is located just outside of Del Mar and is a beautiful white sandy stretch of heaven meant for walking and frolicking. We did a lot of both! This, of course, meant that we deserved some legendary Mexican food from Robertos. They have some amazing items, like Rolled Tacos. They are like taquitos but a million times better. Served with fresh guacamole, they are good enough to make a grown man cry. Its has become a favorite of mine since moving here.
No day trip to San Diego is complete without some great Mexican food. They call it food here. A trip to the beach and the perfect image of a highly adorable coffee for your Instagram are also essential. But that’s just one humble San Diegan’s opinion! If you are planning on driving up to LA from here check out my post on spending a day there without blowing the budget! Thanks for reading and I hope you have an amazing week ahead!
